Water and Sewer Supply Infrastructure Water Reservoirs Projects Orogen is providing approvals management for three reservoirs at North Tuncurry, Redhead and Tallwoods. Each reservoir site was located on vegetated land, which required detailed ecological assessments of the impacts of clearing for the reservoirs. REF's were prepared for each reservoir, as well as Environmental Management Plans for the site and construction, which included provision of pre-clearing surveys and clearing supervision for contractors. Additional works included coordination of survey for pipeline easements, landholder negotiation and specialised ecological services including detailed Orchid surveys and preparation of biodiversity offset planning documentation. Vegetation Survey and Voluntary Conservation Agreement Report Orogen has undertaken a Vegetation Survey of 100 hectares of forested lands surrounding the Hallidays Point Sewerage Treatment Plant, adjoining Darawank Nature Reserve. The objective of the study was to inventory and map flora and vegetation communities present on the site and to identify areas that would be subject to a Voluntary Conservation Agreement (VCA) with the NSW Department of Environment and Conservation (DEC). Study components comprised aerial photo interpretation (API), botanical survey, mapping and report preparation. Vegetation communities recorded during the study comprised Coastal Dune Forest and Sandplain Swamp Sclerophyll Forest. The study formed the basis for discussions with DEC to initiate a VCA for a portion of the subject lands. Water Reservoir/Supply Projects Orogen has undertaken numerous EIA's for water supply upgrades for a coastal water authority. These include reservoirs at Tea Gardens, Redhead, Tallwoods Village and North Tuncurry. All sites have required detailed ecological field investigations and reporting to support the clearing required and included formulation of mitigation measures. In addition, site-specific reports (eg. Koala Plans of Management) have also been prepared. Further to the EIA, works have included preparation of statutory planning reports to State authorities. |
