Extractive Industries Hard Rock Quarry Water Management Plan Orogen is undertaking the preparation of a Water Management Plan for a proposed extension of a quarry situated in South-east Queensland. Orogen's approach is to develop sustainable water use and management outcomes that meet both client needs and regulatory requirements. Oyster Lease Dredging in Wallis Lake EIAPart 3A Major Project Orogen has prepared a Major Project Environmental Assessment for the dredging of an 8 ha oyster lease in Wallis Lake. The project involved determination of the environmental impacts of the dredge operation, including the impacts of the disposal of the spoil via a 4 km pipeline to a land-based stockpile site. Selection of the pipeline route necessitated the traverse of very sensitive wetland environments, as well as determination of impacts including aquatic ecology and hydrodynamics in and around the dredge site. Manning River Dredging Consent Compliance Orogen is providing ongoing management of consent compliance for dredging of 1,500,000 cubic metres sand from the Manning River at Harrington on the mid north coast of NSW. The project has involved representation at regular meetings with Government agencies regarding compliance with consent and licence conditions and the analysis and presentation of a variety of ongoing monitoring reports, as well as preparation of Annual Returns for a variety of licences held by the proponent. Sand Quarry EIS Orogen has completed an EIS for a sand quarry at Nabiac. The work involved extension of an existing approval for the operation to allow sufficient time for preparation of an EIS to support a major expansion of the quarry. The project involved significant authority and local stakeholder consultation, as well as detailed ecological field investigations to determine the impacts of additional clearing on threatened species habitats. The EIS included mining plans, detailed groundwater modelling, development of ongoing monitoring programs and innovative mitigation measures to accommodate various Threatened species. The outcome of involvement was the securing of the Development Consent. |
